Open Call for Collage Art | International Women's Day

“Don’t Run From the Fire” is closed! To everyone who submitted—thank you! It was a fantastic turnout for /DRI:M/SPACE’s first Call for Collage Art and I’m so grateful!

/DRI:M/SPACE called on Collagists to:

Dissect the male gaze

Investigate the female gaze

Push back against the Patriarchy

Challenge the status quo

Be subversive

Each and every one of you created collages that embraced the BRIEF to the tee. Your comments were personal, poignant, and powerful—the words accompanying your submissions affirmed that “pretty art” can carry a message, call out double standards, inequality, and oppression in society, and be a tool for political change.

Now the judging panel will begin the difficult process of narrowing down the submissions. We aim to announce the winners by the end of the month, but this could be later depending on, well, life. I know you all get it because virtually everyone has been in a state of limbo since the pandemic hit last year.

So hang tight, beautiful collagists, and happy collaging!

Jurors:

The creators of BRENDA, a non-profit magazine and collective dedicated to thought-provoking contemporary art and culture from a feminist viewpoint.

Isza, Amsterdam based experiential omnivore, extroverted introvert & feminist.
